I know how bad the flooding has been in our area with 65mm of rain falling in just 12 hours, particularly in Bugbrooke, Kislingbury and Nether Heyford. My sympathies go to all those who have been impacted.
Although the weather forecast has improved, there is a significant amount of water in our systems, with river levels peaking over the coming day along the River Nene.
We are expecting further rain tomorrow (Wednesday 27th), with up to 23mm falling across Northamptonshire. Any further rain will fall on saturated ground so the risk of flooding may remain high into the weekend, as water moves through the system.
I have spoken with the Environment Agency and the local authority who are coordinating the response and I have been assured that they are acting as quickly as they can.
